Tasting notes compiled by Michael Oliver food and wine commentator and life time achievement award winner for Eat Out.
Norah’s Valley Velvet Red is a non-alcoholic red wine made from the Pinotage grape in the Nuy Wine of Origin Appellation. The alcohol is removed from the finished wine by using technology where the wine is put through a spinning cone which sends the wine through different membranes at high revolution, removing the alcohol with no additions and chemical free.
Wine of Origin – Nuy
Composition – 100% Pinotage 2018
Maturation – 6 months in second fill French Oak Barrels
We bring the grapes to the wine cellar and later destalked and crushed. A period of 3 days of cold maceration took place before fermentation. Punching down every three hours, three times a day for the first three days extracts maximum color, aroma, flavor, and soft juicy tannins. The fermentation takes place following maturation in French Oak Barrels.
Elegantly labeled in a Burgundy-shaped bottle, closed with a screw cap. Above all, the wine in the glass is a translucent dark cherry red. The aromas are bright fruit, cherry, mulberry, and roadside brambles. The palate is delicate, though generous. The oak is there in the undertow to support the fruit. Basically, well balanced and harmonious in the waning aftertaste.
The non-alcoholic red wine is an excellent food partner. Serving it lightly chilled will enhance your experience. Seared Tuna with a good dipping sauce, Carpaccio of Beef, and Gammon with a sweet-sour cherry sauce would all certainly make great partners. The Velvet Red De-Alcoholised Wine can pair with anything.
Lastly, check out our other non-alcoholic wine collection.
